Promoting Peer Support in Child Welfare

Peer Support Brief

FosterClub believes peer support programs are crucial for young people and their families. For youth, the ability to turn to peers who understand what they are going through is a vital lifeline.

Peer support programs for young people can take many shapes: sometimes peer support is found through involvement in a Youth Advisory Board, other times it may include Peer Navigators who help youth locate and access resources. Other innovative programs include Peer Support Groups (a type of mentoring program) or Independent Living Skills classes that incorporate peer-led delivery.

FosterClub partners with Generations United, The Children's Trust Fund Alliance, and Zero-to-Three to provide this brief about all of the potential for Peer Mentoring in Child Welfare. Click below or view Promoting Peer Support in Child Welfare here.
